Coimbatore Central All Women's Police Station Inspector Nirmala filed a case under the POCSO Act and produced the auto driver in court and remanded him in custody.
Coimbatore: An auto driver Ramakrishnan (26) who wooed and married a Class 12 student in Coimbatore has been arrested under the POCSO Act.
Police officials revealed that 'a 17-year old girl from Coimbatore who is studying Class 12 was reported missing for the past few days. Her parents had searched for the girl in the homes of her friends and relatives but to no avail. The distraught parents lodged a complaint at the Saibaba Temple Police Station, and the police immediately filed a case and launched a search for the student.'
The search unfolded the story of the Class 12 student who was wooed to leave home and marry the auto driver, Ramakrishnan of Nagarajapuram near Vadavalli in Coimbatore. It was also discovered that Ramakrishnan was already married but had manage to hoodwink the young school girl and abducted her. The case was subsequently transferred to the Coimbatore Central All Women's Police Station. Inspector Nirmalafiled a case under the POCSO Act and arrested Ramakrishnan who was later produced in court and remanded in custody.
