Residents of Boodimedu Buddha Nagar under Karamadai municipality accuse officials of neglecting to provide basic amenities in spite of verdict being in their favor.
Coimbatore: Boodimedu Buddha Nagar under Karamadai municipality in Coimbatore District is home to 287 families.
In 1996, the Adi Dravidar Welfare Department issued a list of free housing for people.

For the past 25 years, the residents in the area have reportedly been living without proper basic amenities like drinking water, street lighting, electricity and sewerage facilities. Also, it is reported that venomous snakes and scorpions enter the residential area, so much so that the fire department officials have had to be summoned regularly to catch snakes.
Officials in Karamadai municipality have been dismissing petitions claiming that there was a pending case in court but they have now been accused of neglecting to provide basic amenities even though the verdict of the case was in the residents' favor.

Hence, the residents have now resorted to petitioning the Coimbatore District Collector G S Sameeran to take immediate action to meet their basic need for proper civic amenities.
