During the mass cleaning drive 185.06 km of drainage canals were cleaned in 28 days from 20.09.2021 to 20.01.2010. 90.51 km of rainwater drains and canals were cleaned.
Coimbatore: The Government of Tamil Nadu has announced that the canals should be cleared as a precautionary measure to prevent rain water from entering the residential areas due to blockages in the drainage canals leading to rain in Tamil Nadu during the northeast monsoon days.

During the cleaning work carried out in 6 days from 20.09.2021 to 25.09.2021 in 100 wards of the Coimbatore Corporation in the largest cleaning work carried out in Coimbatore Corporation, 185.06 km of rainwater drainage canals were cleaned in 28 days from 20.09.2021 to 20.01.2010. 90.51 km of rainwater drains and canals were cleaned.

Corporation Commissioner Raja Gopal Sunkara said, "A total of 275.57 km of rainwater drainage canals have been cleaned during the mass cleaning camp work carried out in a total of 10 days."
