Thudiyalur, Annur, Kurumbaplayam named in the list of places where the farmers markets are likely to be set up
Coimbatore: Plans have been made for setting up two more farmers market in Coimbatore in addition to the existing markets.
The new markets are likely to be set up in Thudiyalur, Annur, Kurumbapalayam areas, where the Department of Revenue and Agriculture and Commerce are looking for sites.
As per the Agri officer, 'The government has announced to set up markets in villages rather than the town panchayats. Hence we’re looking for a spot where the maximum crowd would arrive. The setting up processes will commence once the right spot is identified'.
Farmer's markets largely help farmers benefit from their cultivation as well as make available vegetables at affordable prices for the consumers. Farmer's market so far functions in R.S.Puram Singanallur, Sundarapuram, Vadavalli, Sulur, Mettupalayam, Pollachi areas in the district.
