Coimbatore: Sudden showers in Coimbatore that lasted for four hours disrupted the normal routine of the public on Friday.
The city has been witnessing mild showers for the past two days. Continuous rain lashed the city from 1 am on Friday morning until the wee hours of the morning. However, a four-hour shower that began at 4 pm today heavily disrupted the routine of the public.
Thunderstorms lashed Gandhipuram, Saravanampatti, Ganapathi, Rathinapuri, Collector Office, Variety Hall Road, Singanallur, Periyanayakenpalayam, Thudiyalur, Velandipalayam, Saibaba Colony, Mettupalayam Road, Poo Market, Ukkadam and Podanur.
Buses were overcrowded and there was water flooding in certain areas because of which working people found it hard to return home.
It may be recalled that the Met Office and the Coimbatore Agricultural Research Center had forecast rains for four consecutive days as there was a sign of cyclone brewing in the Bay of Bengal. Locals however breathed a welcome sigh of relief at the incessant rains that cooled the temperature in the city.
