The trial judge dismissed the bail application filed at the Coimbatore District Sessions Court.
Coimbatore: Pollachi Food Smuggling Prevention Unit police conducted a vehicle inspection on September 6 in the Iruutupallam area in Alandurai. On the main Siruvani road, a lorry was stopped and inspected. 1600 kg of ration rice was found in 40 bundles in the lorry.
It was revealed that ration rice was bought at a low price in Coimbatoe and being smuggled to Kerala in bulk. Jayadish (36), a tamarind trader from the same area was arrested in connection with the smuggling of rice. He filed a petition at the Coimbatore District Sessions Court seeking his release on bail.
