As per the SP's order, police have been conducting vehicle checks in the city's suburban areas and seizing trucks that carry loads, over the stipulated weight.
Coimbatore: The police department seized overloaded trucks and imposed penalties for the third consecutive day in Coimbatore.
Upon the orders of the District Superintendent of Police, S Selvanagarathinam, the city's Police Department has been routinely checking vehicles in Coimbatore city, especially in the suburban areas. The Kinathukadavu police have also been conducting inspections in the areas that fall under the Kinathukadavu police station limits, since Tuesday.
Four overloaded trucks were seized and penalties imposed amounted to Rs. 1,49,000 as of Wednesday. For the third consecutive day today, Special Sub-Inspector Sundaramurthy and Chief Constable Selvakumar seized two trucks in Kaaraseri area and found that it was overloaded with gravel and M Sand, more than the Government-stipulated weight. The police seized the two trucks and imposed a fine of Rs. 56,720.
