The Pan-India rally covering areas from Tirupur to Sathyamangalam will spread awareness on tigers and their preservation.
Tirupur: 'India for Tigers - A Rally on Wheels' is a Pan-India outreach proposed by the Indian Government.
In Coimbatore district, the rally kick-started at the Anamalai Tiger Reserve on Thursday. The rally will cover areas beginning from Udumalpet Thevanur Pudhur, Tirupur via Palladam, culminating in Sathyamangalam in Erode. Special vehicles have been arranged for the rally which will spread awareness on tiger preservation, all across the villages en route.
The ‘India for Tigers – A Rally on Wheels’ will be held across 51 tiger reserves in 18 states, covering a distance of 7,500 kms in seven days and will mark the Wildlife Week starting October 2. The proposed pan-India outreach activity will have twin objectives of celebrating India’s 75 years of independence and spreading the message of biodiversity conservation under the Project Tiger and Integrated Development of Wildlife Habitats program.
