While moderate rains are expected in most places on Thursday, thundershowers are expected at one or two places in the Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Salem, Dharmapuri, Namakkal, Krishnagiri, Tirupati, Thiruvannamalai, Dindigul, Trichy and Pudukottai districts.
Coimbatore: Due to the depression in the Bay of Bengal, several regions in Tamil Nadu have been receiving heavy rains on Wednesday night including various places in Chennai.
According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy rains in Tamil Nadu from Thursday for the next four days, due to the southwest monsoon.
Accordingly, several places in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry will receive moderate rains on Thursday and thundershowers are expected at one or two places in the Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Salem, Dharmapuri, Namakkal, Krishnagiri, Tirupati, Thiruvannamalai, Dindigul, Trichy and Pudukottai districts. Moderate to heavy thundershowers are expected at most places in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry on Friday, and thundershowers at one or two places in Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tirupur, Dindigul, Theni, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Salem, Dharmapuri, Namakkal, Krishnagiri, Tirupati, Thiruvannamalai, Kanyakumari and Tenkasi districts.
Moderate rain is expected in most parts of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry over the weekend. The Meteorological Office has forecast heavy rains in some places and light showers in a few places in Chennai.
