Today, September 29 marks World Heart Day. The day is celebrated every year to raise awareness about heart disease. With increasing death rates due to Cardiovascular diseases (CVD), including heart attack and stroke, doctors are creating awareness to inculcate tried-and-tested methods of eating a healthy diet and exercising which can go a long way in protecting oneself from heart diseases.

From educational institutions to government establishments, several awareness sessions are being observed to spread awareness on the risk factors of CVD which predominantly includes stress, sedentary lifestyle and poor eating habits.

In one such awareness event held at the Coimbatore International Airport, a yoga session was organised for the staff members.

In a bid to promote physical and mental well being of the staff members, trained yoga teachers from Isha Yoga here, were invited to teach simple yoga postures to the staff including breathing techniques and food habits to lead a healthy life.

The staff members largely benefited from the session, according to a release from Senthil Valavan, Airport Director, Coimbatore international airport.
