Coimbatore: A Professor at the Shantalinga Adigalar Arts and Science Tamil College in Perur, Coimbatore has been suspended for communicating obscenely to a student, online. College students have been protesting and demanding his permanent dismissal.
Dr. K Thirunavukarasu who is a Professor at the Shantalinga Adigalar Arts and Science Tamil College in Perur, Coimbatore has been accused of speaking obscenely to college students and his conversations during nights with students has come to light.
Thirunavukarasu has been reported as texting a student through the Telegram app at around 9.30 pm saying, "Has everyone in the house reached? I like you very much! Is there anyone near you? Your eyes are so beautiful, your face is so beautiful, you and I are so close now, I wish you were with me too. Get used to cooking. Are you not bored to be alone? Shall I come home tonight? I will. When my mother is not home, you can come here and we can have fun."
It has also been reported that Thirunavukarasu sent a selfie of him on the bed, with his shirt off and in a vest. He is reported to have also asked the student to take a photo and send it to him. The alumni of the college reportedly reprimanded him thereafter and a video was released in which Thirunavukarasu had confessed to inappropriate conversation.
Following this, a complaint has been lodged against Thirunavukarasu with the college administration and higher education authorities. Thirunavukarasu has been suspended on the basis of the complaint. The college administration has set up a special committee to investigate the matter, with the college administration stating that the next step will be taken based on their report.
