KG Hospital under the leadership of Chairman Dr. G. Bakthavathsalam has launched an exclusive Heart Failure Clinic to provide advanced cardiac services. With a heart to offer quality and affordable cardiac care services to people from all walks of life., KG hospital has screened more than 30,000 children for heart diseases, free of cost.

Coimbatore based KG Hospital headed by its Chairman Dr. G. Bakthavathsalam is on a mission to save lives from cardiac ailments. Keeping sight of this goal, on the eve of World Heart Day which is observed on September 29, the hospital Chairman announced that the doors of the exclusive Heart Failure Clinic are open at the KG Hospital.

The newly introduced venture is one of the important divisions of the hospital, making us want to call it the heart of the medical centre. The clinic will provide advanced cardiac services, he said.

Throwing light on the holistic services offered at the clinic, the hospital Chairman informed that a team of five professional cardiologists will be assisted by experienced special nurses to attend cardiac patients. Furthermore, the clinic is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure to treat patients with heart failure. The newly launched facility will be upgraded in a phased manner, thus, making it one of the leading heart transplantation centres in the country.

The centre will be armed with the expertise of acclaimed heart transplantation specialist Dr. K. R. Balakrishnan, who has committed to support the clinic with his expertise and experience.

Dr. G. Bakthavathsalam’s piece of advice comes straight from his heart

Expressing concern over increasing heart failures among youngsters, Dr. G. Bakthavathsalam cautioned that if regular cardio checkups followed by consultation with Cardiologist is not done on time, the consequences could be fatal. People should not ignore symptoms like shortness of breath or rapid heartbeat. He reittrated that smoking, high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes can pave way for heart diseases, hence he advised people to follow a healthy lifestyle.

Furthermore, he said “One’s heart health depends on how healthy his/her diet, lifestyle, physical fitness are. Eat fruits, take veggies, avoid maida and oily food, follow a vegetarian diet if possible”, he advised.

He added that our infrastructure however has not increased at the same rate. In this context, he applauded Dr Bakthavathsalam and the KG Hospital team for making advanced healthcare accessible to all sections of the society.

Heart warming numbers add to the success story of KG Hospital

A source from the hospital shared that KG Hospital is the first hospital to perform minimally invasive cardiac surgery in Coimbatore. As many as 200 minimally invasive cardiac surgeries have been performed with 100% success rate. The hospital has more to its success story. Some of KG Heart Centre’s initiatives to make advanced care accessible include more than 2,000 heart surgeries performed free of cost. The hospital has screened more than 30,000 children for heart diseases free of cost and it has screened over 6,00,000 people for blood pressure, thus far.
