Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M K Stalin had announced that a huge statue of V.O.Chidambaram Pillai would be erected at the VOC Park in Coimbatore, to commemorate VOC's 150th birth anniversary.
Following the announcement, a place was allotted by the Corporation on Monday, to erect a statue at VOC Park. Within the VOC Park complex in Coimbatore, space has been set aside for the installation of the statue that is 50 feet wide and 45 feet long.
The Department of Municipalities and Drinking Water Supply has been directed to send feedback on the project. The Public Works Department has requested the Corporation to allocate the required space for this. The park entrance is 50 feet wide and 45 feet long, west of ThenvadalRoad, and the Corporation has issued a no-objection certificate to the Public Works Department.
Public Works officials said, "First of all, the necessary space has been allotted for setting up the statue for the VOC. The project appraisal will be prepared, tender will be sought and the contractor will be selected. After that, the statue will be designed, approved by the Government and then installed."
