Election flying squad hand over the Rs. 8 lakhs to the District treasury. Authorities state on presentation of proper accounts and documents, money can be recovered.
Coimbatore: Rural local elections have been declared in eight districts in Tamil Nadu.
With elections being held in Annur area of Coimbatore, flying squads were engaged in a vehicle check in the area, on Monday morning. When a car was stopped for vehicle inspection, Rs. 8 lakhs which was unaccounted for, was found in the car.
When the election flying squad enquired of the owner of the car, he did not have proper documentation. Hence, the Election flying squad confiscated the Rs. 8 lakh and handed it over to the District treasury. Authorities also stated that if the person who carried the unaccounted cash in the vehicle brought proper accounts and documents, the money would be returned.
