Trial lasted for three hours. Victim demanded state police investigate the case as Airforce officials wanted to take custody of the case.
Coimbatore: A woman officer of the Air Force Training College in Race Course Coimbatore, lodged a complaint with the Gandhipuram All Women Police Station alleging that she was sexually harassed by a fellow army officer on the 10th of September.
Based on the complaint filed, the police registered a case under section 376 and arrested Amritesh, the air force officer, at midnight on Friday
Lt. Amritesh's defense counsel filed an affidavit saying the state police could not take action against the air force officer. While the police asked for time to file a reply, the judge ordered the remand of air force officer Lt Amritesh for a day. Lt. Amritesh was imprisoned at the Udumalpet sub jail. His remand period expired on Monday and was produced at the court.
The victim earlier appeared before the court and gave her defense explanation.
Air Force officials, who are scheduled to appear in the case, are said to have requested the accused Lt Amritesh to be taken into their custody and interrogated. However, the victim demanded that the state police handle the case. The trial lasted for three hours today at the women’s court.
