The Coimbatore District Road Safety Association has demanded that the Corporation administration intervene and remove all the banners.
Coimbatore: With banner culture plaguing Coimbatore's main roads, the Coimbatore District Road Safety Association highlighted the risk of accidents due to banners in a statement released and urged the Coimbatore District administration, Electricity Board and Coimbatore Corporation Highways Department should rally to prevent banner culture and remove all advertisement banners from Kalapatti to Vilankurichi Saravanampatti.
Advertisement banners have been erected along the main roads of Coimbatore, thus posing a high risk of accidents for motorists. The High Court has ordered that advertising banners should not be erected on highways and power poles in Coimbatore district. The Coimbatore Corporation and the Electricity Board have now been urged to rally together and take action along with the Highways Department to initiate action against companies that violate rules regarding banners.
