In two different incidents diamond jewellery from a college professor's house and one sovereign jewellery from a powerloom business owner house was stolen. Police have registered a case and are investigating.
Coimbatore: Vijayarani, 56, a native of Amman nagar, Thondamuthur, Coimbatore, is a private college professor. Yesterday she locked the house and went to college as usual.
She then returned home after completing her work. She was shocked to see that the front door of the house was broken down and unidentified persons had stolen a diamond jewelery worth Rs 50,000, a foreign watch and a car key.
The CCTV camera fitted in the house was also broken.
Professor Vijayaranilodged a complaint with the Vadavalli police. Police and fingerprint experts rushed to the scene and recorded the fingerprints. Following this, the police have registered a case and are searching for the robbers who broke into the house and inspected the CCTV cameras installed in those areas.
Similarly, Chinnaswamy 62, of Indira Nagar area next to Karumathampatti, is engaged in power loom business in the area.
He went to work as usual yesterday. Later in the evening when he came home the front door of the house was broken. When he entered he found that one sovereign gold jewelery in the wardrobe had gone missing.
Karumathampatti police were immediately informed. Police have registered a case following the complaint by Chinnachamy and are searching for the unidentified gang involved in the theft.
