In a fit of rage, youth kills the girl for not accepting his love proposal
Coimbatore: The Women's Court Coimbatore pronounced a youth guilty of murdering a young woman who had rejected his love. He was sentenced to death on Friday.
Udaykumar was arrested in 2020 for murdering Ponni (name changed) of Alandurai when she declined his proposal of love. Udaykumar allegedly stalked and harassed Ponni to accept his love but she continued to refuse. After some time, Udaykumar reportedly caught Ponni off-guard and choked her to death on September 18, 2020.
With regard to the murder, a woman named Vijayalakshmi lodged a complaint at the Alandurai Police Station and Udaykumar was arrested by Inspector Vivekanandan. Udaykumar was kept in custody while the Womens’ Court investigated the case. On Friday, Udaykumar was declared guilty and was sentenced to death along with a penalty of ₹ 2000. The Superintendent of Police, Selvanagarathinam lauded the valour of the police officials who investigated the case.
