92 petitions accepted for local elections in Coimbatore; 2 petitions rejected

9 petitions were received for the post of Grama Panchayat Chairman. 64 petitions were received for the post of Grama Panchayat Ward Member and 21 petitions were received for the post of District Panchayat Ward Member.


Coimbatore: 94 petitions were filed for local body elections in Coimbatore. Election officials announced that out of the 94, two petitions were rejected and 92 accepted.

Across the Annur Panchayat Union, in the South Komarapalayam and Anaimalai Divansapudur Panchayats under the Pollachi South Panchayat, elections for the post of Grama Panchayat President will be held at Belladi, Thekkampatti, Velliyankadu, Muthur, Seerapalayam, Gurudampalayam, Polikagavundanpalayam, Jameenpalliyam, Zameenmuthum, Krishnapuram, Jallipatti, Madampatti, and in 13 village panchayats, the election for the post of ward member has been announced.

Coimbatore District Election Monitoring Officer, Mathivannan chaired a review meeting with election officials on Thursday and guided the officials. With the deadline for filing nominations drawing to an end on Thursday, the task of reviewing nominations took place on Thursday. Nine petitions were received for the post of Grama Panchayat Chairman. 64 petitions were received for the post of Grama Panchayat Ward Member, and 21 petitions were received for the post of District Panchayat Ward Member.
