As part of CSR initiative, the foundation has signed a three year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the district education department to support the education of underprivileged children in Malumichampatti area of Coimbatore.
Coimbatore: Walkaroo Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of Walkaroo Group of Companies is committed to support education of the underprivileged in local communities. As part of this initiative, the foundation has signed a three year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the district education department to support the education of underprivileged children in Malumichampatti area of Coimbatore. Recently, the foundation constructed classrooms and a noon meal shed for Government Higher Secondary School, Malumichampatti for a total cost of rupees 50 lakhs.
In a bid to keep communities engaged and involved as a collective process of community building, Walkaroo has collaborated with the principal, parent teacher association, municipal bodies, and others throughout the construction process, including obtaining government clearances.
The project to build Government school at Malumichampatti is a part of series of projects undertaken by the foundation. The other projects undertaken by the foundation are at Nanganjud, Mysore and Kinaloor, Kozhikode. Apart from supporting in building the infrastructure, Walkaroo Foundation also provides financial aid to students to help them pursue their academic goals.
Commenting on this initiative, VKC Noushad, Managing Director, Walkaroo Group of Companies, said, 'We have been actively contributing to the development of local communities for the past few years. With a strong belief that learning environment and infrastructure are critical in a child’s growing phase, Walkaroo has been instrumental in contributing and building the essential infrastructure at Malumichampatti by supporting the construction of four classrooms and a midday meal shed in the government school. We will continue supporting our local communities by providing them with amenities that would provide a holistic learning experience for the students. Walkaroo Foundation also undertakes development projects in domains of healthcare, sports, women empowerment.'
