Preferences given for those who are waiting for their second jab; Covishield currently out of stock
Coimbatore: The ESI Hospitals has in stock 2000 Covaxin injections and has stated that they are prioritizing those who are waiting for their second dose.
The Mega vaccine camp has caused a mild shortage of vaccines in the city, however, the 24-hour vaccine camp is active in ESI since the 24th of August, and the hospital sources stated that Covaxin is in stock and 2000 vaccines are available. Those who are waiting for their second jab of the vax shall visit and get their doses.
Hospital Superintendent Dr.Ravi Kumar said, "There is currently no stock of Covishield vaccine in any camps in the district. ESI has 2000 doses of Covaxin in stock. At the same time, priority is given to those who come to administer the second dose of vaccination."
The ESI Hospital in Coimbatore has 1080 beds, 630 for Covid patients and 450 for others.
