Coimbatore: While the third wave of coronavirus is expected, school, colleges remain open.
School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, along with Coimbatore district private school administrators, held consultations at the private hotel on coronavirus precautionary measures and student safety.
Minister of Education said, "The consultation meeting was attended by school administrators, principals and administrators who recorded their views and difficulties in running schools. This includes the economic problems they faced during the Coronavirus period and the fact that teachers who worked in private schools lost their jobs and asked for government assistance"
He said he is confident that students, parents, teachers, and school administrators can all work together with the Department of Education to take education to the next level. He said he will consult with the higher authorities and the Chief Minister and definitely take issues it into consideration and rectify.
He said, "We have brought to the notice of the Chief Minister that no decision has been taken regarding the opening of schools for 6th to 8th class students in the first week of October. The results will be announced only after a review of the coronavirus numbers at the coronavirus consultation meeting."
He also said that the age limit would be raised in the selection of postgraduate teachers for the posts. Private schools in Coimbatore have told to open from class 1 as they can take care of the students. However parents are still fearful to send young children and he said it was wrong for students in school and colleges to not to report coronavirus and urged that they should report it immediately.
