Coimbatore: Cybercrime police are searching the web for a man who tried to sell an old car in Coimbatore and introduced himself as a soldier and was involved in a 65,000 scam.
'Cyber Crime' police are investigating a person who allegedly swindled Rs. 65000 by claiming to be a soldier.
Sivaramakrishnan, 27, of Puthur, Komangalam, Coimbatore, Pollachi; is a private company employee. He was planning to buy an old car and looked at internet advertisements. He saw a car worth Rs 1.40 lakh and when called on the mobile phone number mentioned in it, the person introduced himself as an army soldier and said that he was working in an army camp in Madukkarai and would sell the car as his job was about to change soon.
He has also asked for an advance of Rs 65,000 to be sent to his bank account. Believing this, Sivaramakrishnan paid 65 thousand rupees into the bank account given by the person. After that, he never picked up the phone.
When he went to Madukkarai army camp and inquired, it was ascertained that no such person had served there. According to Sivaramakrishnan's complaint, the district cyber crime police are investigating the case.
