District administration urged to take steps to provide xerox shops within the Collectorate itself especially for the needs of the differently-abled.
Coimbatore: Xerox shops are scarce at the Coimbatore District Collectorate which has caused majorinconvenience for people visiting the Collectorate for various purposes.
The differently-abled who visit the premises for welfare assistance suffer the most. The lack of facilities at the Collector's office premises for photocopying documents to apply for welfare assistance and for passport applications has forced the differently-abled to go outside the premises to fetch copies of necessary documents.
Demands have been raised to make necessary arrangements within the premises, near the Differently Abled Welfare Office.Assistance has been sought from NGOs, Rotary Club and the district administration. Photocopies and additional photographs are sometimes required for necessary documents to get Government assistance. Such situations have thus demanded the attention of the district administration.
An official of the city police on duty at the Collectorate said, "It is a recurring story of differently-abled people coming to the Differently Abled Welfare Office at the Collectorate to get Government welfare assistance but without access to make photocopies and photographs. It would be very helpful if the district administration takes steps to get the necessary facilities for them within the Collectorate itself."
