Police impose fines on a tourist vehicle for flouting social distancing and remove people bathing in rivers violating ban
Coimbatore: Valparai is a tourist destination located in Coimbatore district and tourists from across Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Karnataka throng Valparai throughout the year.
Tourists were barred from entering Valparai during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns. Now, the district administration is allowing tourists who carry vaccination (both doses) certificate, wear face masks and adhere to strict social distancing, in line with the guidelines announced by the Government.

Tourists have been instructed not to bathe in any of the rivers in Valparai. Bot on hearing that tourists were bathing in the Koozhangal river near Valparai, the police led by Sub-Inspector Murugaiyya rushed to the spot and evicted them. Also, tourist vehicles are regularly checked for overcrowding. When the police found a tourist vehicle to be overcrowded, a fine of Rs.500 was imposed upon the vehicle and action was taken.

Similarly, in Valparai town, the police led by Sub-Inspector Balaji imposed fines on those who did not wear face masks and flouted social distancing rules.
