At the Conclave, skilling of Covid-19 orphans, efforts to develop and maintain heritage sites, development of AI to support industrial growth especially in Coimbatore were discussed.
Coimbatore: The Minister for Industries, Tamil Official Language, Tamil Culture and Archaeology, Government of Tamil Nadu, Thangam Thennarasu inaugurated the 'Industrial Conclave' jointly organized by the Tamil Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation (TIIC) along with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at The Residency Towers in Coimbatore, on Tuesday.
Speaking of the efforts of the Tamil Nadu Government towards the development of industrial sector, schemes to encourage entrepreneurs in textile, auto components and leather industries were highlighted by Thangam Thennarasu. The administration is also planning to increase and pitch in investments from regions apart from Chennai. The Minister also stated that the Government will extend its full support in the airport expansion plans of Coimbatore and development of MSMEs.
"Efforts are being taken to preserve heritage-rich sites in the State for which museums shall be established in Coimbatore promoting culture, arts, and crafts. The Government through TIIC is reaching out to industries to provide their schemes to the beneficiaries," stated Hans Raj Verma, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Chairman and Managing Director, Tamil Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation (TIIC).
Special schemes from MeiTY in Artificial Intelligence and Industry 4.0 are to be capitalized by businesses in Tamil Nadu for which Sanjay Tyagi, Director, STPI, MeitY, GoI, Chennai sought the backing of the TN Government. He also mentioned that STPI shall extend full support to the emerging software hub that Coimbatore is becoming.
Another important aspect was discussed in the conclave wherein, Ravi Sam, Managing Director, Adwaith Lakshmi Industries Pvt. Ltd. highlighted the importance of skilling the workers and the skilling of Covid-19 orphans especially, as a way to provide job opportunities for the 'next-gen.' He requested the support of TIIC and the Government in identifying the lot.
Dr. R Nandini, Ex-Chairman, CII Tamil Nadu & Founder Trustee, GRG Trust stated, “This initiative is the need of the hour in creating synergy between Government and the Industry and in taking the industrial growth agenda forward. CII is pleased to be a part of this initiative towards the development of Industry in western Tamil Nadu.CII is also looking forward to closely work with Government on India@75 in Tamil Nadu, especially in Coimbatore.”
Arjun Prakash, Chairman, CII Coimbatore & Wholetime Director, Effica Automation thanked the government for initiating the above schemes and special efforts taken which promises development in the sector and mentioned the industries from Coimbatore.
Coimbatore District Collector, G S Sameeran who was present at the meeting assured his full support and also stated that the district administration will work for the benefit of the entrepreneurs along with the industries.
