Kathirvelu, a former Kinathukadavu mayor and member of the district DMK Responsible Committee submitted a petition to the Salem and Palakkad Divisional Managers for passenger trains to run between Pollachi-Kinathukadavu-Mettupalayam.
Coimbatore: Pollachi-Kinathukadavu-Podanur wide gauge railway line was inspected on Monday after the completion of electrification work.
Kathirvelu, a former Kinathukadavu mayor and a member of the district DMK Responsible Committee, on behalf of the DMK submitted a petition to the Salem and Palakkad Divisional Managers who then inspected the Kinathukadavu railway station.
According to the petition, the Coimbatore-Rameswaram, Coimbatore-Red Fort, Coimbatore-Thoothukudi and Coimbatore-Dindigul trains which were already running via Kinathukadavu after the completion of the electrification work between Pollachi and Podanur, should be resumed and the passenger train between Pollachi-Kinathukadavu-Mettupalayam should be re-routed. It was stated in the petition that the reservation counter should be set up.
DMK Speaker Tamilpithan, Anna Nagar Easwaran, Kinavai Ganesh, Dineshkumar, Lakshmanan, Manikandan, Rameshkumar, Murali, Kalimuthu and many trade union executives were present while handing over the petition to the railway officials.
