Coimbatore: The Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi, an ally of the DMK will contest in the upcoming local body elections in Kallakkurichi constituency.
The party’s General Secretary, E R Eswaran briefed the media saying, “Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi is making sincere efforts to ensure this local body election throws up a victory for the candidates of allied parties. Our party administrators are in talks with the DMK to place candidates from our party in Kallakkurichi constituency.”
Commenting further on the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic, he opined, “It is gratifying that the Government of Tamil Nadu has taken sincere efforts to support Kongu regions, especially Coimbatore during the peak of the wave. The District Administration also put in its sincere efforts to bring down Covid-19 cases and the doctors did a commendable job. With the third wave predicted anytime in the coming days, the public should not panic since the Government has made full-fledged efforts to curb the virus."
He highlighted the importance of ensuring people get their vaccinations as soon as possible. Lauding the efforts of the State Government in organizing the Mega Vaccine Camp, he stated that 29 lakh people were vaccinated in the 40,000 camps held on September 12 and 16 lakh people were administered the doses last Sunday, in 20,000 camps.
"The Health Minister has been directly visiting vaccination camps and monitored the vaccine drives. He left Pollachi on Sunday morning and went to Chennai after visiting Coimbatore, Tirupur, Nilgiris, Erode, Namakkal, Salem and Dharmapuri. He paid visits to at least two vaccination camps in each district. The Chief Minister also paid more visits to Coimbatore, compared to other districts," added E R Eswaran.
