Coimbatore: The Coimbatore District Collector, G S Sameeran kick-started a mass cleaning camp on Monday, on behalf of the Corporation Administration and Drinking Water Supply Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
A mass cleaning camp is being held in various places across Tamil Nadu on Monday.
As part of this cleaning drive, a huge cleaning camp was held in Coimbatore.
The Coimbatore District Collector, G S Sameeran and the CCMC Commissioner, Raja Gopal Sunkara initiated the work of cleaning the rainwater drains and canals in various areas, including the 81st ward of the Corporation within a radius of 50 km in Coimbatore. For five days during this week, the clean-up operation will cover a radius of 1,500 km including the corporation, municipality and panchayat. 1500 cleaners are involved in the cleaning work.
The District Collector said, "By the order of the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, a huge cleaning camp has been inaugurated, today. The purpose of this huge camp is to clear all the canals and rainwater drainage in all the corporations, municipalities and panchayat as a precautionary measure against the northeast monsoon and facilitate easy drainage."
