Coimbatore: Coimbatore is all geared up for the construction of another zoo apart from the well-renowned VOC zoo and park in the city. The new zoo will be home to wildlife in an area of 25 acres. The project report for the zoo is nearing completion and thus construction of a new zoo is expected to begin soon.
V O C Corporation zoo and park near Gandhipuram's Nehru Sports Stadium in Coimbatore has 400 animals of 40 different species such as reptiles, aerials and mammals. A new zoo with new features will be constructed in Coimbatore spread over an area of 25 acres on a Corporation site in the prison grounds area of Nanjappa Road in the city. The preliminary construction works for the same is nearing completion.
A Corporation official said, 'A Chennai-based private consultant is preparing a detailed project report on the new zoo structure. Now the project report is nearing completion.'
