BJP slams DMK as responsible for NEET deaths.
Coimbatore: The BJP Women Wing President, MLA Vanathi Srinivasan inaugurated the Itham scheme in Coimbatore to mark the 71st birthday of the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi.
The Itham scheme distributes free sanitary napkins to women, especially in rural areas. 12,000 women were provided with sanitary napkins at the inaugural event held in a private hall in Gandhipuram.
Highlighting Periyar’s contributions and legacies that he left behind, Vanathi Srinivasan stated that Periyar would have been proud of Modi’s efforts on women welfare if he were alive. Talking to the press, she stated that the PMK party leadership should make clear decisions on their alliances with the NDA. She said that the party should make a statement if PMK’s allegiance shall forever be withdrawn from NDA or just for the upcoming elections.
“PM Modi’s birthday shall be observed as Service and Submission day beginning from September 17 to October 7. In view of that, every month 10,000 women shall be provided sanitary napkins and it shall be distributed at their doorstep. Further, the remaining 2000 napkins will be stacked at my office. Those who need the napkins should produce Aadhar Cards for identity and get the napkins in person for free.
The Union Government welcomes the decision of the TN Government in announcing Periyar’s birthday as Social Justice Day, because Modi, himself hailing from a backward class, has highly prioritized the needs of backward class people, which would have made Periyar proud. He has introduced schemes that empower women and the backward class especially, the dream and policies which is Periyar's precisely. It is Modi’s birthday that has turned into a Social Justice Day.”
Further, when asked about the series of raids on the Ministers in Tamil Nadu, Vanathi Srinivasan said, “It was an act of revenge by the ruling party to raid Minister K C Veeramani’s house which did not produce any proofs nor court orders.”
"The DMK party and the Chief Minister are just trying to benefit politically out of the NEET deaths. DMK is spreading false rumours and inculcating fear in students. Compensating the deaths with money would not be the proper solution and instead, the ruling party should understand the importance of NEET and stop confusing people. The families of NEET victims should be compensated with Rs. 10 lakh at least," stated Vanathi Srinivasan.
“The constituencies are yet to be finalised and shall be decided only after finalising the alliances. We have started receiving petitions for the local body elections and the National Democratic Alliance is powerful and is still present in Tamil Nadu. PMK party leaders have to make a stern decision on their allegiance with the National Democratic Alliance and come clear if the party will dissolve its alliance forever or just for the local body elections. If any decision was made, it was for the welfare of the PMK party,” stated the BJP Women's Wing President, MLA Vanathi Srinivasan.
