Coimbatore: There are 77,790 voters who will be participating in the Coimbatore district Panchayat by-election, including two from the third gender.
A district election official said, "Coimbatore district panchayat by-election has a total electorate of 77,790 with 37,559 men, 40,229 women and two individuals of the third gender. There are 2,670 more female voters than male voters in this election. 131 polling stations are being set up for this. Of these, only 100 polling booths are to be set up in the Annur Panchayat Union for the District Panchayat Council polls. Voters from 15 village panchayats in the Panchayat are expected to cast their ballots. Of these, only 28,477 are male voters and 30,724 are female voters with 59,201 being eligible to vote."
"4,140 male voters, 4,415 female voters and 1 of the third gender, total to 8,556 voters in the Anaimalai Divansapudur Grama Panchayat Presidential election. The turnout was much lower. Basic facilities including drinking water, electricity and toilet facilities have been set up at the polling centers. A ramp will also be set up at polling booths that do not have a ramp to make it easier for people with disabilities to go and vote. Wheelchairs and assistants will also be assigned to each polling station," he added.
