46 students from KG Nursing College test positive for Covid-19.
Coimbatore: 46 students of KG College of Nursing at Saravanampatti in Coimbatore were declared as Covid-19 positive on Wednesday and are being treated in isolation at the college premises.
The Coimbatore Corporation administration immediately took action by imposing a fine on the private college for recklessly failing to comply with Covid-19 regulations.
The Coimbatore district administration has already banned the functioning of shops, theatres, parks and malls other than essential shops on Sundays following the slowly rising Coronavirus cases in the district in the last few days. More than 200 people are presently being infected with the Coronavirus every day. In Coimbatore district, 224 people contracted Coronavirus in a single day on Wednesday and four people are reported to have died.
All shops in Coimbatore district are to be closed on Sundays except for essential items such as milk, groceries, medicines and vegetables. Apart from this, all theatres, parks and tourist sites are also banned from operating on Sundays. Also, only take-aways are allowed in bakeries and restaurants, with dining prohibited.
The Pollachi Cattle Market has also been given permission to trade only with local traders in attendance.Traders from other states are not allowed. Similarly, employees working in clothing and jewellery shops in Coimbatore district must be vaccinated at least with one dose of the Covid vaccine. The district administration has also ordered companies to ensure that their employees are vaccinated. These new restrictions will take effect from September 17.
