The project aims to care for the mental well-being of students of 83 Corporation Schools.
Coimbatore: City-based non-government organisation, Aram Foundation Charitable Trust in partnership with the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) wing of Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions Pvt. Ltd, along with Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC) has launched a project for the mental well-being of students of 83 Corporation schools.
A source from the Aram Foundation Charitable Trust said, “This ‘Tele Survey and Counselling’ project which is the first of its kind in Corporation schools would benefit more than 19,000 students of Corporation schools and over 10,000 students of Government schools in Coimbatore.”
Owing to the global Covid-19 pandemic, schools have had unprecedented challenges as they had to move quickly and adapt to online formats of education, struggling to provide equitable access to all students, as well as supporting teachers and students on educational needs and making plans amidst uncertainty. This has caused a lot of worry, stress, grief, economic pressure, given rise to malnutrition issues, abuse issues, increase in drop outs and other child protection issues, there by challenging the mental health issues of children in schools. In order to lend a helping hand to vulnerable students, the project has been launched.
The project aims to enable a basic survey to identify such issues with individual case studies done and connecting the students to the appropriate resource persons. The resource team of the Trust has psychologists, psychiatrists, motivators, doctors, counsellors, guides and career coaches who will support them to provide the right type of psycho-social intervention solutions to the identified problem as much as possible.
“The main objective of the project is to pep up the confidence level of the children, boost their potential and prevent break in studies,” stated a source from Aram Foundation Charitable Trust.
The project was formally launched by Raja Gopal Sunkara, Corporation Commissioner (CCMC) and Special Officer, in the presence of Bezeleel Johnson, CSR project lead (REBI), Michael Raj, CEO, Coimbatore Corporation, Latha Sundaram, Managing Trustee, Aram Foundation Charitable Trust and Gokul Raj J, Founder trustee of Aram Foundation Charitable Trust.
