Tourists banned to gather near waterfall, lake in Valparai

Order issued after medico went missing recently


Valparai: The Valparai Police Department has announced a ban for tourists from gathering in waterfalls, lakes and has also restricted them from bathing.



Restriction boards were erected at the Kuzhangal lake in Valparai.

A 4th-year medical student, Sriram went missing in the waters a few days back. Fire department, rescue teams, volunteers, mariners efforts went vain as the missing was found nowhere. Following the incident, the Valparai Police has announced a ban on bathing at the water bodies in the region.



The tourists, however, ignored the potential danger and the warning continued to bathe in the water. Social activists demanded the Municipal Revenue Police to take necessary action to prevent tourists from bathing in the water to prevent any more loss of lives
