The temporary closure of the tourist spot is to prevent casualties.
Coimbatore: Kovai Kutralam has once again been temporarily closed due to inflow increase and water bodies being full. The incessant rains in recent days in the area have raised water levels at the tourist spot.
The waterfalls had been recently reopened for tourists after a period of pandemic lockdown. Visitors were allowed on a rotational basis for short periods of stipulated time. However, since continuous rains in and around Coimbatore district has resulted in increased inflow, the area is fraught with risks. The waterfalls will remain closed for the next few days - September 9 to 12 September for security purposes.
