NHAI exempts tankers and containers carrying Liquid Medical Oxygen from paying toll fee

The National Highways Authority of India has excluded toll fare for tankers carrying Liquid Medical Oxygen.


Delhi: The National Highways Authority of India has excluded toll fare for tankers carrying Liquid Medical Oxygen.

According to a press release issued by PIB, Chennai on 8th May 2021, it said," Tanks and containers carrying Liquid Medical Oxygen are exempted from tolls to ensure their advancement in movement on the national highways.

In view of the unprecedented demand for medical oxygen supply across the country due to the Covid-19, vehicles carrying Liquid Medical Oxygen and Ambulances will be considered as emergency services and will be exempted from toll fare which will be considered for a period of two months or until further orders.

Although time has not been wasted at toll plazas since the implementation of the Fastag scheme, the above vehicles have been given priority on national highways.

The National Highways Authority of India has asked all its officials and other stakeholders to assist government and private efforts in combating Covid-19 pandemic.

With the unprecedented demand for medical oxygen across the country due to the Covid-19 epidemic, timely delivery of Liquid Medical Oxygen to hospitals is becoming increasingly important. Therefore, it is important that the vehicles carrying it are exempted from customs duty." It said.
