Coimbatore: Police have intensified the investigation into the murder of a 58-year-old woman near Pappanaickenpalayam by forming three special teams to trace the suspects.

The deceased, K. Shanthi of Karuppukkal Thottam, was found dead at her residence on Wednesday evening. She had sustained severe injuries to her head, and police suspect that she was attacked with a blunt object. Her body was sent to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination. A forensic team, along with a sniffer dog, also examined the scene and collected evidence.

As part of the ongoing investigation, police are also conducting enquiries in Kerala, which is Shanthi’s native place, to gather further information that could help identify the suspects and establish the motive behind the murder.

Police had earlier found that no jewellery or cash was missing from the house and registered a case following the discovery of Shanthi’s body.
