Police officials have arrested five men in the murder case.
Coimbatore: Ananthakumar who hails from Bharathipuram near Sulur was an alcoholic who constantly picked fights with his neighbours. Two days ago, it is reported that he went to the house of his cousin Vasantha Kumar (28) who resides in Kakkan Nagar in Singanallur and threw stones at him.
Vasantha Kumar, along with his friends went to Ananthakumar's home on Tuesday morning to warn him. During the quarrel that ensued, Ananthakumar's son Sathish, Saravanakumar and Hari rallied behind Ananthakumar and attacked Vasanthakumar and his friends with a knife. Vasantha Kumar who was stabbed in several places on his body reportedly collapsed in a pool of blood and died.
One of the friends Mahesh who had accompanied Vasantha Kumar and another person were also injured in the fight. Mahesh Kumar died on Tuesday, failing to respond to treatment.
It is now reported that both groups of men who clashed this morning in Sulur were involved in smuggling marijuana, and that the marijuana dealer was killed when they attacked each other. This incident has caused a stir with police now patrolling the area. Police confirm that all five men have been arrested with regard to the murders.
