Coimbatore: A Man was arrested for trying to change a counterfeit Rs 500 note at a shop at Coimbatore Gandhipuram bus stand. Two people from Kerala were at the Coimbatore bus stand last night. They gave 500 rupees they had in hand to the fruit shop and asked for fruits. As soon as the fruit vendor touched the note, he knew it was a counterfeit note and immediately informed the Coimbatore police.
One of the two men who saw the police coming fled. Police have arrested the other man and are investigating. The incident has caused a stir in Coimbatore at night. Mohammad Junaid, 24, from Malappuram, Kerala, and his friend Fazil, 26 went to the fruit stall at the Gandhipuram Central bus stand last night to buy fruits.
The police rushed in and arrested Muhammad Junaid on but Fazil fled when he saw the police coming. Kattoor police are currently keeping the arrest in a secret location and conducting an investigation.
