District Collector Innocent Divya allocated EVM machines for respective assembly constituencies in The Nilgiris

District Revenue Officer S Nirmala, Election Official Monikarana, Ranjith Singh, Rajkumar and other authorised political party representatives took part in the event.


The Nilgiris: Ahead of the state assembly elections in Tamilnadu, The Nilgiris District Collector/ Election Officer Innocent Divya todayallocated EVM machines in rotational method for the 3 assembly constituencies in front of the representatives of political party members.



The District Election Officer and District Additional Collector supervised the EVM machines that were stored and then opened them in front of the political party representatives, which was followed by a computer allocating them to the respective constituencies.

Later District Election Officer and District Additional Collector later oversaw the works done to transfer these EVM's to the respective assembly constituencies.

The Nilgiris District Collector Innocent Divya addressed the media people "In the final voter's list released on behalf of the 3 assembly constituencies (Coonoor, Ooty and Gudalur) in The Nilgiris district, there are about 5,85,049 eligible voters.

There are about 868 election booths in the 3 assembly constituencies. Post the first stage correction and other trials of EVM machines there are about 3,845 EVM machines that are planned to be used in the state assembly elections in April."

"We have also taken measures to conduct EVM usage trials and provide necessary awareness to the voters about the upcoming elections. Over 45 EVM machines have been used to create awareness. We have sent the EVM machines to the respective election constituencies in front of the representatives from different political parties.

EVM machines allocated for Ooty Constituency will be kept and guarded at the Breeks School, EVM machines allocated for Gudalur assembly constituency will be kept and guarded at the St Thomas school and the EVM machines allocated for Coonoor will be kept and guarded at the Providence College forWomen.

Further, the protection for the EVM machines in Ooty is given by CCTV cameras, webcams and weapon carrying policemen." She said.
