Coimbatore:Three-party 'Puthiya Paarvai' Coalition will contest in 234 constituencies as an alternative to the Dravidian parties. The three parties including Tamilaga Murpokku Katchi, the Desiya Makkal Sakthi Katchi and the Dravida Makkal Munnetra Katchi of India, are all set to contest the forthcoming assembly elections as a new alliance, the Puthiya Paarvai Coalition said at a press conference.
Tamilaga Murpokku Katchi leader K. Sakthivel said that their parties have been engaged in field work since 2019 and selected 120 candidates at the party meeting in Erode in September 2020, following which they will announce the candidates for the Coimbatore and Nilgiris districts.

He later said that, "This alliance would contest all 234 constituencies in the Assembly elections and that their alliance would be an alternative to the major parties, including the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. Our promise is to transform the current political arena for the rich into the politics of the common people, to eradicate bribery and corruption, and to implement things including rural and agricultural development."
K. Sakthivel, leader of the Tamilaga Murpokku Katchi has been chosen as the chief ministerial candidate of their alliance, while ML Ravi, leader of the Desiya Makkal Sakthi Katchi, and Veera Chidambaram, leader of the Indian Dravida Makkal Munnetra Katchi, have been chosen as deputy chief ministerial candidates.
Twelve candidates have been announced for the Coimbatore Singanallur constituency, including N. Sebastian of the Dravida Makkal Munnetra Katchi of India, Sivakumar of Thondamuthur and K. Maniraj of the Desiya makkal Sakthi Katchi for the Coimbatore South constituency.
