Arms holders advised to surrender weapons - District Collector
Coimbatore: District Collector has asked the arms holders to surrender their weapons for their own protection and possess firearms should be handed over to the police stations in the area immediately as the election rules are in force. He also warned that legal action would be taken in case of delay.
He said, "As the Coimbatore Election Code of Conduct is in force, licensed firearms in the suburbs of Coimbatore should be kept in stock at the nearest police station or authorized munitions security depot. The district police must confirm whether such a reserve has been placed. Central and state police and armed guards on security duty in the banking sector are exempted from possessing firearms."
