Apart from the aged voters, physically disabled people, voters who are affected by Covid-19 during elections or voters who reside in the area severely affected by COVID-19 are allowed to voluntarily cast their vote by post.
Coimbatore: Tamilnadu is facing assembly elections on April 6th this year. On behalf of this year's elections, the Election Commission has introduced a volunteer postal voting method for people above the age of 80 and certain other people.
Form 12D for postal voting:
Apart from the aged voters, physically disabled people, voters who are affected by Covid-19 during elections or voters who reside in the area severely affected by COVID-19 are allowed to voluntarily cast their vote by post. In order to do that the voter's must sign the 12D form. Meanwhile the 12D form has now arrived in Coimbatore.
The District Election Commission has appointed revenue and sanitation Officials along with booth level officers to help filing these forms according to the strength of the voters in an area.
Our sources from the District Election Department stated that " There are 64,500 voters in Coimbatore who are above the age of 80. There are also 20,000 physically challenged voters in Coimbatore. Eligible people from them will be identified and their 12D forms will be submitted." They said.
