Coimbatore: Medical College Dean Nirmala explains on who is eligible for coronavirus vaccination.
She said, "Those receiving coronavirus treatment those suffering from other serious infections, people with uncontrolled sugar and blood pressure, under 18s, pregnant and lactating women should not be vaccinated. People between the ages of 45 and 50 with diabetes are advised to get vaccinated. But it is necessary to give a medical certificate confirming that their levels are under control.
She added, "There is no issue with the vaccine as there is speculation that there are issues after vaccination due to other underlying illnesses. Hence the public need not fear and the second dose can be taken at any time 29 days after the first dose. Immunity develops in the body after 45 days. People must strictly adhere to the mask social distancing even after vaccination. The vaccine does not cause any side effects. We, the doctors, are putting this on ourselves. Unnecessary superstitions should be ignored and the public should be vaccinated without hesitation."
