Only 5 people allowed to go home and canvass for vote: Election officials warns strict action will be taken on violation


Coimbatore:Election officials announced that only 5 people are allowed to go door-to-door campaign and canvass for vote and warned of strict action upon violation.

Following the announcement of the Assembly elections, various parties have stepped up their election campaigns with election alliances, seat allotment and campaigns. The Election Commission and election officials continue to be issuing rules of conduct and said only 5 members of the political parties will be allowed to go to the streets and ask for votes visiting homes. Election officials have warned that legal action will be taken if the party violates this.

Election officials have warned political parties that vehicles carrying liquor in Coimbatore will be confiscated and drivers will be arrested immediately. Due to the coronavirus infection, only a maximum of five people will be allowed to go home and ask for votes and has asked to avoid printing leaflets using derogatory language. Election officials have issued notices to the respective constituencies to follow these procedures.
