Paramilitary comes to Coimbatore as assembly elections are nearing
Coimbatore: Paramilitary forces have come to Coimbatore as assembly elections are nearing. They are being sent to each district to prepare for assembly elections.
The paramilitary forces arrived atCoimbatore railway station day before yesterday. Voting for the Assembly elections will take place next month (April 6). The code of conduct came into force after the Election Commission issued a notice. Following that, all the MLAs' offices in Coimbatore district were closed and sealed. Posters and party advertisements pasted on the walls were removed.
30 flying squads have been set up to prevent political parties from delivering gifts and money to voters. They are conducting intensive raids in Coimbatore 24 hours a day. A total of 94 Central Industrial Security Force (CSIF) paramilitaries from Chhattisgarh arrived in Coimbatore by train at midnight yesterday to engage in election security work. They were made to stay at the Corporation Girls' High School in Ramnagar, Coimbatore.
They have brought their belongings, guns, cooking utensils and groceries. They retired on the first day yesterday. Troops, along with police and air force officers, are involved in election security, vehicle inspections, and security at tense polling stations.
