Public and political parties protest demanding closing of the TASMAC shop in Tirupur
Tirupur: In Tirupur, the public and political parties have gone on a hunger strike wearing garlands made of bottles around their necks and by defying the ban for protest demanding the removal of a government TASMAC store.

All political parties and the public in the area have staged several protests demanding the removal of the government TASMAC store located in the middle of a residential area in Tirupur Murugampalayam area. No action was taken despite their petition to the District Collector, Member of the Legislature, Member of Parliament, Minister etc. Hence they announced a hunger strike against the liquor store today.

Police denied permission to stage the hunger strike and removed the canopy and chairs. There was an argument between the protesters and the police following this. The public violated the ban by wearing a garland of bottles around their necks and engaged in a hunger strike holding a black flag in protest.
