Kannan, handed over a recovered gold ornament weighing aroun to a Sri Lankan family who had visited Coimbatore as tourists, after CCTV footage and police investigation helped trace the jewellery that went missing during their visit to a bakery on Perur Main Road.
Coimbatore: A Sri Lankan family visiting Coimbatore as tourists recovered a gold ornament that went missing while they were at a bakery on Perur Main Road, after police traced it using CCTV footage and subsequent investigation.
The family had approached the D2 Selvapuram Police Station on August 16 after noticing that a gold ornament weighing around 1½ sovereigns (12 grams), worn by the girl, was missing. Based on their complaint, the police began investigating the matter.
As part of the investigation, police examined CCTV footage from the bakery and found that another family had allegedly picked up the missing jewellery. Police subsequently conducted enquiries and traced the jewellery, recovering it during the investigation.
The recovered jewellery was handed over to its rightful owner by Coimbatore City Police Commissioner Dr. N. Kannan, IPS, on Wednesday.
