Coimbatore: People from Kermalam are still struggling not getting an internet connection. The people in this area are usually tribals and that is located on the borders of Karnataka and TamilNadu.

Kermalam is a part ofErode district and Kermalam panchayat board will come under Bavanisagar legislative assembly and Niligirs Lok Sabha constituency. Kermalam also has 7 pachayat zones.

Kermalam is situated next to Buthalapuram, Thalithi, V M Thoti, JRS puram, Jogikavundanur, Sikunicapalayam, Orthi, Kanakkarai.

A total of 5,000 plus families live in this area.

Kermalam is filled with scenic places all around and has the moderate climate which is best to live.

Agricultural is the staple work type in Kermalam and products like Ragi, Corn, Cabbage, Small onions, Beans, Turmeric, Garlic and potatoes are grown at an area of 20,000 acres.

The locals have to travel about 50 kilometres to reach Sathiyamangalam to come to town and at the same time there us no tower facility in the place which is the biggest trouble the people in the area are facing.

Jadeyrudrasami a local tea seller at the checkpost said that "we can make phone calls near the checkpost and that too only with Karnataka's roaming tower. Even the house near the checkpost does not get enough network. It is very hard for the agricultural producers as they have to come all the way near the checkpost to make a call to inform about the produce or to ask for a vehicle to collect the produce."

He said that there is bus service to Keramalam from Sathiyamangalam and Coimbatore and but there is no network to tell your relatives about your arrival. He also said that the locals were most affected during lockdown as the online education was noway possible for our kids to study online. He also said that the people from Keramalam are struggling very hard while getting an ambulance during emergencies.

When asked about the network situation to Ramesh he said that "I work in the fields in the tractor it is very difficult for me to inform a party that I am coming for work today. Our children are studying in colleges located in Erode and Coimbatore, they cannot even contact us in times of emergency due to this network issue. We are finding it very difficult to live here with wild animals around. We request the government to arrange for a private or a government network tower to our village and help is out."
